Merry Christmas Everyone

It's been quite some time since my last post and I can't believe Christmas has come and gone. What now? I'm trying to enjoy the last week of Christmas but all I keep thinking about is packing everything up and putting it away. Isn't that terrible? Well, nevertheless I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. I had a wonderful Christmas because my dh was scheduled to be off this year. We spent Christmas Eve and Christmas together and I could not want anything more. Next year will be a whole different story. He is scheduled to work Christmas Eve and Christmas night, yuck. I guess we'll make the most of it like we always do. Today I'm off to visit my Mom and siblings. Really looking forward to it. That's what Christmas is all about is spending time with your family and friends, enjoying good food and company. We had snow the weekend before Christams and it was great. It really got me in the Christmas spirit. Now, I feel kinda sad. I guess it was the anticipation of Christmas and all the decorating and cooking etc. and now I feel blah. Three 1/2 long months of winter. I really hope they go by quick. Does anyone feel the way I do? Please share. I've attached some Christmas decorating pictures for you to view. Nothing extravagant, just a few of my favorite things.

I'm Still Here

Hey all, I know its been some time since I last posted on my blog but its been pretty crazy at home and at work. I hope you are all doing well. Lately, it just seems there aren't enough hours in the day to do the things that must be done. I just started to go to the gym again and I'm trying to get into a routine. At work things are good but busy. I guess I really shouldn't complain. In any case, I am very grateful that I have a job. On another note, my DH went on a sailing excursion with a couple of friends to bring his friends boat down to Annapolis. Poor guys, they really endured some rough seas and cold weather. Some members of our family were concerned because they heard on the news that a 40ft sailboat had capsized off the Delaware Bay. That is where they were headed. This is particularly why I don't watch the news, simply because they don't give you all the facts and details and ultimately leave watchers in a panick. Obviously it was not my DH and his friends, I thank god every moement for looking after them. They ultimately ended up docking the boat in Atlantic City for two days because there was a gail warning and seas were pretty rough. My heart goes out to the family/families that lost someone in that tragedy. Needless to say DH and his friends are home safe and sound.
On a lighter note, I hope everyone had a great Halloween. Stallion and I had alot of fun. I dressed Stallion up as Batman Dog.(he he he) My sister in-law got Stallion a costume last year but he really didn't get to show it off. This year, he loved all the attention he got from all the kids and parents. He really was diggin' it. He is such a good sport. I'll leave you with some pictures of Stallion in his costume and some pumpkins we carved at my sister in-laws last weekend. Prim Blessings,

Cool Mornings

The past couple of mornings have been between the forties and fifties here and its so invigorating. The cooler mornings makes me enjoy my coffee so much more. This weekend I tried to do some crafting but I was pressed for time. Yesterday DH and I went to a clam bake out in Montauk which was very nice. The weather was absolutely perfect. At night they started a fire on the beach which was comforting. The night as beautiful as the day. I think almost every star was out last night. We saw the milky way and probably every constallation known to man. Todays weather promises to be the same. We are headed out to see the oompa bands that come from Germany for the Steuben Day parade. There will be much schnitzel and bier and dancing. :) I just love dancing the polka. I'll make sure I bring my camera. I've posted a couple of pix of my attempted crafts and outside fall decorating. Hope you all have a great day. Prim Blessings,

Remembering Those Who Made The Ultimate Sacrifice

It's hard to believe that 7 years have past since that awful tradegy that changed our country forever. I just wanted to take a moment to remember those who gave their lives and lost their lives. May they all be in God's company. God Bless America.

May we never forget. Warmest Regards,

Gettin' Crafty

This past weekend I got the crafting bug. I've never been a crafter but for some reason I felt that I could possibly make something. I attempted to make some candy corn ornies and some sleeves for my jarred candles. Surprisingly, they did not turn out too bad. I tried to tea stain the muslin, but I guess I did not use enough tea bags and possibly used too much water. I do have to respect the crafters out there because I can't tell you how many times I messed up because I was either side tracked or not paying close attention to what I was doing. All in all it was fun. My mother in-law was rather impressed with my candle sleeves and actually wanted one. :O She made me feel good. Anyhow, I think I will try my hand at some simple crafts for the coming holidays. There's a kind of satisfaction that one gets when they can say " oh, I made that! So to all the crafters out there, I tip my hat to you because I now understand how focused you must be, how much time, effort and creativity goes into making your creations. I have attached some pix for your viewing. Don't laugh because they are rather simple and they are my master pieces lol (do you sense the drama).

    Warm & Humid Weather is Back

    Just when I was acclimating to the nice dry cool whether, summer has to make a comeback. The rest of the week is suppose to be warm and humid and I really am not looking forward to it. I really wanted to get some painting done but I guess I'll have to put that on the back burner for now. In any case, I did get some fall decorating done in the house. :) The outside will have to wait another week or so. Its just as well because I really can't relate pumpkins, haystacks and scarecrows with 90 degree whether at least not here. Perhaps if I lived in the middle of the country or on a farm, possibly. I have attached a few photos for your viewing, hope you like.

    An Award!

    I've been given an award by Rondell at
  • www.rondell-tomatoecreekprims.blogspot.comli
    Thanks Rondell, I am very honored. What a great way to begin my Sunday morning. Now the tough part about this award is that I have to nominate 7 bloggers that don't have this award yet and that is going to be a challenge so here goes:

    Tammy at
  • www.theoldhollowcrow.blogspot.comli
    Genny at
  • www.eweniquetreasures.blogspot.comli
    Lyn56 at
  • www.primpyoupad.blogspot.comli

    Marie at
  • www.stonefloweres.blogspot.comli aka A Little bit of Country on the Shore
    Tammy at
  • www.countrygirlathome.blogspot.comli

    And the 7th nomination I will leave for all the bloggers that visit my website. Again, I am very honored and would like to share this award with all of you. Hopefully, I am not breaking any rules.

    The rules for this award are:

    1)Copy the Award;
    2)Add a link to the person who gave you the award;
    3)Nominate 7 blogs that do not have this award yet and include their links (good luck)
    4)Leave the nominee a message that you have nominated them.

    So, I am getting ready to go through all my fall stuff and begin decorating. Yay! I'll post some pictures later. I hope you all have a wonderful Labor Day. Prim Blessings,

    Margarita's Anyone?

    <

    This past Wednesday dh and I along with my brother in-law and sister in-law went to Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville Concert at Jones Beach. What a blast! I've been to several Jimmy Buffet concerts but never one with tailgaiting. It sure was a sight to see, all those parrots heads and pirates with bottles of rum. The weather could not be any nicer. I was in awe with what people bring there. You'd truly think they were setting up camp there for a week or so. Nonetheless it was pretty cool. Hopefully we'll get to do it again in two years. Jimmy seems to make it to the beach every two years and this time I shall be prepared. Heck, I just might camp out their myself, lol.

    This weekend I am going to sort through my fall decorations and possibly start decorating the inside on Monday, hehe you just don't know...I can't wait! I'd start today, but I'm having my sister in-law and her dh come from Connecticut for a barbecue and they will be staying the night, so I really can't begin rummaging and making a mess if I'm going to have company. Oh well, I'll just wait until tomorrow afternoon. Hope you all have a wonderful Saturday. Prim Blessings,

    Autumn is in the Air

    What wonderful weather we're having here in the Northeast. This morning it was 58 degrees and you could feel that cool nip in the air. Ahh breath in that fresh autumn air. Can you believe that this coming weekend will be the unofficial end of summer? I don't care what anyone says, this summer flew right by, like fog in the wind. At least I got to go to the beach several times this summer (a whopping three times :o ) and believe me, that's a lot. I even got to go to the annual Americana Fair this year. It seems that particular fair falls on a busy weekend every year but this year. I went to a couple of barbeques and even a Tikki Bar. Tikki Bar? Yep,there was a new restaurant/bar that opened up this year called the Off Key Tikki Bar its really nice but expensive but that's a whole other posting. Nonetheless I had a good summer with the exception of Stallion getting sick. This afternoon I visited several blogs and came across a post about simple pleasures. Linda at
  • www.behindmyreddoor.blogspot.comli and
    Carolyn at
  • www.cranberrycrossings.blogspot.comli both posted their simple pleasures and made me stop and think of mine. If you ladies don't mind, I will copy your idea so that I may post a few of my simple pleasures. They are:
    1) I love to hear the birds sing at sunrise;
    2)The smell of hazelnut coffee;
    3)Hearing my dh's car pull into the driveway, home from work;
    4)I love to hear my mom's excitement when I call her on the phone;
    5)I love to see the expression on Stallion's face and him charge the door when I say "Daddy's Home!";
    6)Speaking to my best friend over coffee Saturday mornings;
    7)The smell of pumpkin spice in the fall, pine in the winter and honesuckle in the summer;
    8)Seeing the first signs of the first snow fall of the season;
    9)Seeing the first signs of Spring (crocuses and daffodils);
    10) The smell of Thanksgiving dinner.

    This was a great idea. It really puts things into perspective and makes you appreciate the simples things. I recommend everyone try this.

    Before I forget there are several giveaways taking place this week. Please go on over and visit Rondell at
  • rondelltomatoecreekprims.blogspot.comli She is giving away a set of samplers inspired by the four seasons. They are absolutely charming. Good Luck. Prim Blessings,

  • My Poor Baby Boy, Stallion

    It's been quite a while since I've logged on and posted anything. Unfortunately, Stallion has been pretty ill and I've been up and down at the vets. He picked up some kind of bacteria and also has acute pyoderma which is like eczema. Poor guy has been on steriods and antibiotics for several weeks now. Fortunately, they are working and he is much better. He's almost his old self again. It's amazing how one can become so attached to a pet. I was in tears when the vet brought him out to me after shaving one side of is face and I could see where the irritation was. It had spread from his below his ear, down his neck to his shoulder. I felt so bad because all the while I thought he was rolling in bird poo or cat poo and so I, of course, I'd give him a bath not knowing that he had an infection. My poor baby. I am alot more aware now. I make sure that I check his body for any type of irritations or lesions.

    On a lighter note, can you believe its almost fall? I am so excited! I'll begin decorating the weekend after Labor Day. :P I know its early but Fall is my favorite season (Christmas a close second)and I've been looking through all my fall decorations salivating and trying to be patient. Time for hay stacks, scarecrows and mums. Yippee! I have all my fall candles waiting for me to light them up. Oh, delicious pumpkin spice and apple cinnamon and cool evenings. Aaah.... Well I'll leave you now and check in with you later.

    Finally! Wonderful Weather

    Today was such a beautiful day. Low humidity and alot of sunshine. I took advantage of the low humidity to do some very much needed weeding. Afterwards, I headed to the nursery to see which perrenials where on sale. Once I did my walk through I felt too tired to do any planting, so possibly tomorrow I'll head back there and pick up a couple of plants. I finally brought up my sewing machine and was able to hem some curtains that I've been putting off for quite some time. It felt really good to be sewing again. (I'm only a novice) Tomorrow after the nursery, I'm headed to the fabric store to see if I can get some material for some crafts. I'm going to attempt to make some prim dolls. Wish me luck. I'll post some pictures when I'm done. With that said, I've attached a picture of Stallion which I'm sure will make you chuckle. Have a great nite.

    This n That

    This past weekend I went upstate to visit my best friend Addy. I had a great time but unfortunately, the visit was too short. Next time I'll have to stay for two days instead of one. I was hoping to do some antiquing but time flys when you're having fun. I'm looking to make a trip up there in September when all the leaves are turning. Its absolutely beautiful and very picturesque. So, I was doing some blog surfing and came across this nifty website (on primpyourpad.blogspot.com)where you can make your own magazine cover. Pretty neat. You all should give it a shot, its alot of fun. Thanks Linda! bighugelabs.com

    Linda at behindmyreddoor.blogspot.com is having her photo shoot today. I am so excited for her. Country Sampler is at her house probably right now prepping for the shoot! I can't wait to see her home in the country sampler. Congrats to Linda!http://behindmyreddoor.blogspot.com

    This weekend I am going to bust out my sewing machine. There are a couple of crafts and sewing projects that I'd like to begin before the falls gets here. I recently saw some really nice patterns of rag dolls but I forgot where :( That's what I get for not jotting things down..lol. If I come across them I'll link them so that you can see. Until then,

    Stay-cation

    Hey all, I've been on stay-cation this week. Been trying to make the most of out of not going away and so far, it hasn't been too bad. I've made it to Fire Island which believe it or not is only 5 nautical miles (which is equivalent to 6.1 miles give or take a kilometer or two) but I have not been there in about 4 years. Took the ferry over spent a couple of hours there and headed back home. Had a great time with the hubby at the ocean. The ocean was pretty rough due to Hurricane Bertha. We had some awesome swells but with some really strong currents which deterred us from going out into the deep. Anyway, we made the most of it and I got a lot of color :) Anytime by the ocean I consider awesome. My hubby (Rich) really misses sailing. We used to own a sailboat but we ended up selling it because we didn't spend much time on it to justify the cost of docking it for the season and only going out a handful of times. We've been looking at sailboats again, but I know it will be couple of years before we own again. This weekend I'm headed to visit my best friend Addy. She lives upstate. I'm really looking forwarded to seeing her. It's been a couple of months since we've seen each other and time is due. She and I have been friends since high school. Twenty years, whooh how time flies. Any who, I'm hoping to hit some flea markets or antique shops while I'm there. I'll let you know what I find. I'm posting some pics from my bike ride this past week.

    A Close Call

    This past weekend my hubby was in a bit of a mishap at work. A ceiling collapsed on him during conducting an inspection at a fire. Fortunately he only suffered minor injuries. It really could have been worse. So needless to say, I was very thankful this 4th of July to have my husband at home and not in some hospital. He is recovering from back pain and slowly getting around. On a lighter note, this weekend was my god-son's birthday. He turned 8 yrs. old. Wow, how time flies. He's only 9 years away from graduating high school. :o Great, now I'm feeling old. Anyway, he got Wii for his birthday and was very excited. Has anyone tried this Wii thing yet? I don't know too much about it other than its some kind of a simulator or something like that. If you have let me know. I finally got around to taking some pictures of my home. It's funny how things tend to stand out when you take pictures. I noticed a lot of bare spots and that only means that I have to buy new stuff to replace those bare spots. :) Although I'm really on austerity (at least for a couple of months) I can by one or two little inexpensive things. Before we know it autumn will be here and it will be time to redecorate! Yay... Okay, I'll calm down..Let's just enjoy summer for now. Hope you enjoy the pix. If you have any prim pix you would like to to post just send them right over. Talk to ya soon.

    This past Sunday was Stallion's 2nd birthday. He enjoyed the hot summer sun and his lil swimming pool. I had given him a bath several days before so he could be nice and clean for his birthday. Why is it that dogs tend to find the fowlest odor and roll around in it? Totally blows my mind how they can smell so awful and not even be phased by it. Well, I guess that's what makes them animals. The weather has really been wonderful. It's truly feeling like summer now. I'm hoping to take a couple of daycations (due to high gas prices and everything else going up) to Fire Island, and neighboring towns like Montauk to hang out at the beach. My goal is to try to make the most of this summer even if I don't go away. A couple of visits to the beach and some seaside dining would be just as good. I'm still working on getting some pictures posted on my blog. Today I'm going on a nice bike ride to take some photos of some beautiful country homes near the bay. Hope you all have a great and safe July 4th.

    My First Time

    Today I woke up and decided that I would create my own blog. :0 So here goes. I'm having a little trouble constructing the web page but I guess I'll learn as I go along. I have been so inspired by all of the websites/blog sites I've visited that I thought that I would try to spread a little inspiration through pictures, decorating tips and links. I'll be posting pictures and links as soon as I figure it out. Talk to yall in a bit.

    Hugs,
